Christian Eora
Born on Yuin country, Christian felt a deep connection to the land and sea. His family's history was woven from the threads of several tribes: Yuin and Eora.
His grandfather, born in La Perouse, Sydney, had grown up with the Dharug people. Christian's own upbringing on Eora country had instilled in him a love for the coastline and its stories. As he explored the beaches and forests, he felt the presence of his ancestors.
It was through his art that he truly brought his family's stories to life. His passion for painting and storytelling had been ignited by his connection to the land and his heritage. He spent hours in his studio, brush in hand, as he brought the coastline and its inhabitants to canvas.
His artwork reflected his connection to the land and his heritage. Vibrant colours and bold strokes captured the essence of the South Coast, while intricate patterns and symbols told the stories of his ancestors.
Christian's art is not just about creating beautiful pieces; it is about sharing the history and culture of his people. He hoped that his work would inspire others to learn about and appreciate the rich heritage of the Yuin and Eora nation.
Christian loves to go on walk abouts getting ideas and inspiration from landscapes and nature. His artworks are currently displayed at various galleries as well as Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre where their culture is being taught.
Christian desire to tell his stories through his art has also been passed down to his daughters who were born in the Yugambeh people’s land where he is happily living with his family.
